When the opportunity to be part of the fashion photo shoot for the plus size sustainable luxury brand Lisa Aviva A/W 20/21 collection came around, I was excited and couldn’t wait to take part in the creative process. I believe that providing creative input on a photo shoot project is an expectation for a photographer, and a clear distinction between a creative photographer and anyone else who simply learns to use a camera.
Working with Lisa A. Bleviss, the creative director of Lisa Aviva was fun and a true pleasure. Being first and foremost an artist Lisa has a very keen eye for details and the colour combinations she chooses to works with are spectacular. From the initial meeting about the creative direction where she clearly communicated her artistic vision for the collection to the day of the photo shoot everything was handled in a professional manner. On that same topic I think that sharing the details of the inspiration for the collection is very important as it gives the photographer and the model enough time to prepare and it helps better align everyone’s expectations on set.
Is Photo Shoot Day!
So, on a beautiful, sunny but cold January 2020 day we were all set to for the photo shoot. We opted to work with natural light given that the place we had chosen provided plenty of it. We had to make some adjustments on the light sources to get that perfect light-shadow balance and overall were quite pleased with how it turned out. A few of the photos are posted on the fashion photography page.
Happy to see the photos published along with Lisa Aviva’s interview in 4 fashion industry magazines.
